Science Fair Guidelines are up and down loadable

Hi everyone, I hope you are visiting to check out the guidelines for this year's science fair. I have them posted on the sidebar as a down loadable PDF... its not pretty, but it is there. I will work on the size and the appearance of the link now that it is up there. Forgive me as I feel around in the dark for how to do this stuff!

I also learned today that there will be no joint projects accepted to the PTA TMC fair. I will accept them into the CHES fair, but if they win they will not be eligible to enter that next step.

I will keep you posted about other developments. When I figure out the whole PDF thing better I will be posting a form for the February Title and Hypothesis turn in and the name card to be mounted on the back of the   display.

Lego Man in Space!

What science blog could go by this little tidbit and not make a mention?!!  This link will take you to a article about the two Canadian high school students that sent a Lego man into near space and recorded it all for us to watch just for FUN! I love their motivation because science IS just FUN. Their method is not high tech, but their ability to utilize cameras, GPS, get the whole thing together in a way that it would not disintegrate on landing and the foresight to watch the weather patterns to make it easier to find are all impressive for this age group.Way to go guys! I hope all the right schools come hunting you down for college and you continue to have fun with science and technology.

Welcome to Science Snipits!

This is the very first post so you are coming in on the ground floor. I hope for this blog to be a place to keep current with the news and happenings for the CHES 2012 Science Fair for now. Once that is past I want a place to post fun science things to do with kids, great websites to visit and generally fun science stuff.

For now, the guidelines for the 2012 Science Fair are posted in a page of their own. The link is at the top of the this page next to the 'HOME' tab. I will also try to post it as a downloadable PDF in the next few days, along with a form for the submission of the Title and Hypothesis in February and the card to be attached to the back of the project when it is turned in in March.

If there are questions, please email me or leave a comment on this (or any) post and the committee and I will try to get back to you as soon as possible.  Thanks!
